Volkswagen and Audi seem to have a way with online video advertising as four of the 10 entries on this week's Top 10 Automotive Video Ads are from either brand.
If you're a regular follower of Motor Trend's video advertising tracking, you know that Volkswagen's innovative "Fun Theory" advertising (check it out below) has sustained a sizable presence since we started this series. This week, the campaign - which doesn't feature a single Volkswagen - has regained first place with 173,073 views as Super Bowl ads see dramatic drops in traffic.
Not far behind is Ford's ever-present Fiesta Movement in second place and Audi's new "Competition" campaign debuting in third place with more than 150,000 views last week. The spot featured in the chart below directly addresses Audi-rival BMW and highlights the S4 performance sedan, A6 luxury sedan, and Q5 compact crossover.
Elsewhere on the chart, BMW's "Joy is BMW" campaign makes its first appearance. The amusing ads feature four happy BMW owners entering their vehicles in odd ways before driving away. With 31,145 views, this BMW spot hits tenth place and shows how high the bar has been set to qualify for the top 10. Will new ads bump any of this week's ads from Volkswagen, Audi, Ford, Dodge, Kia, Hyundai, BMW, or Subaru from the chart? Stay tuned to find out.
