Announcing The Wall Street Journal Top 10 Political Ads Chart
We’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with The Wall Street Journal to publish the Top 10 Political Ads Chart, a weekly chart that focuses on the presidential ads people choose to watch most. The inaugural chart debuted last night on The Wall Street Journal’s Washington Wire Blog.
We introduce the Top 10 Political Ads Chart at a pivotal time in the 2012 presidential race, where candidates are using social video as a means to reach voters more than ever before. As far as we know, this is the first time presidential ads have been ranked according to voter interest (through choice-based views).
Published Mondays on the Washington Wire Blog, the chart will provide social video benchmarks for the performance of campaigns like Obama's 17-minute documentary, The Road We've Traveled, Santorum's controversial Obamaville, as well as campaigns like Ron Paul's Etch A Sketch. The chart will answer the question: Whose ad won this week?
The chart uses the same methodology and MRC-accredited True Reach metric as our Ad Age Viral Video Chart, Variety Online Film Trailers Chart, and iMedia Top Brands in Video Chart. It combines the performance of the original clips uploaded by the candidates or supporting groups like super PACs and the copies and derivative videos uploaded by audiences across the web.
Take a look at the chart below, and be sure to you check out the original article on The Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire Blog.
