American Crossroads' Cool Takes on Fallon
American Crossroads' new Cool campaign takes the number two spot on the WSJ Presidential Chart this week with close to 360,000 views. Cool is in response to President Obama's appearance on Jimmy Fallon last week, "slow jamming" the news, which has generated over 2.9 million views on its own. The Fallon bit focused on how the president wants to help college students better afford college. Cool shows a number of clips of Obama "being cool," including the Fallon bit, calling Kanye a jack ass, dancing on Ellen, singing on stage, swatting a fly during an interview with John Harwood, drinking a beer, etc., before transitioning to stats on how difficult it is for college students to find jobs, how they're moving back home with their parents, and how student loans have topped $1 trillion.
Obama's One Chance campaign introduces Bill Clinton as an Obama surrogate in full force. The former president talks about the decisions that only presidents can make. Clinton discusses Obama's decision to send in the Navy SEAL Team 6 to kill Osama bin Laden. The campaign then contrasts that decision with Romneys comments questioning the value of hunting bin Laden. This week also marks the one year anniversary of bin Laden's death. The campaign generated 340,000+ views this week.
American Future Fund takes the top spot on this week with its Tax Day campaign. The campaign got a slightly updated creative, including a photo of the GSA's Jeff Neely in a hot tub. But the main reason the campaign surged to the top this week is because it got a shot of paid media. It had 955,000+ views this week.
