Introducing The Top 5 Auto Ads of the Month with Autoweek

  
  
  

We're happy to announce that we've partnered with Autoweek to publish the Top 5 Top Auto Ads of the Month, a monthly chart that focuses on auto ads people choose to watch most. The inaugural feature debuted today on Autoweek.

During the most-watched advertising event of the year, the Super Bowl, the auto industry regularly dominates other categories like CPG and tech. 2011's runaway Super Bowl hit was Volkswagen's The Force, while this year, Volkwagen, Honda, and Acura all nabbed huge views for the big game. It's no secret that auto brands command huge viewership, and we're excited to reveal the industry's most popular ads to the public every month.

The chart will be published monthly on Autoweek and it will feature the top 5 new auto ads of the month. For example, to be eligible for the May chart, the auto ad needs to be launched in May. We hope to provide social video benchmarks for all auto ads with the chart.

The chart uses the same methodology and MRC-accredited True Reach metric as our Ad Age Viral Video Chart, Variety Online Film Trailers Chart, iMedia Top Brands in Video Chart, and the Top 10 Wall Street Journal Presidential Ads Chart. It combines the performance of the original clips uploaded by the automaker and the copies and derivative videos uploaded by audiences across the web.

Each campaign is measured by True Reach, an MRC accredited metric that includes views from brand-driven and audience-driven social video clips. The data are compiled using the patented Visible Measures platform, a constantly growing repository of analytic data on hundreds of millions of videos tracked across hundreds of online video destinations.
