Marvel's Top 5 Video Blockbusters

The Amazing Spider-Man prepares to release tomorrow, making it the fourth Spider-Man film to hit the theaters in the past 10 years, but the first with actor Andrew Garfield as the beloved superhero. The newest Marvel comic-turned-film portrays superhero Peter Parker in his young high school days, discovering the secrets of his past while trying to win the heart of his high school crush.

The Amazing Spider-Man has garnered more than 102 million views in social video to date, with heavy promotion by studios Columbia and Sony. There are nearly 200 original assets across the web, which include trailers, TV spots, and exclusive previews of the film. Additionally, there are almost 2,000 copies and derivatives of the film, a sign of high audience participation.

In honor of Marvel's latest release on the silver screen, we thought we'd pit all the Marvel superheroes against each other in a social video battle. Which superhero would come out on top?

Superhero Showdown

The Avengers tops the list of Marvel films, which is all too fitting, considering the blockbuster stars several superheroes on one Avengers team. It’s seen a cumulative 234 million views to date, which more than doubles the view count of the next Marvel film, The Amazing Spider-Man.

The most recent Marvel film, The Amazing Spider-Man, snatches the number two spot, impressive considering it hasn't even released yet. We'll only see this number grow as promotion increases after its release. The Iron Man franchise also appears to be a win for Marvel, with Iron Man and Iron Man 2 grabbing the second and third spot on the list with 97 million and 92 million views, respectively. Finally, The Incredible Hulk rounds out our Top 5 list with 90 million views.

Are you looking forward to seeing The Amazing Spider-Man in the theaters? Which Marvel film is your favorite? Let us know in the comments section below!
