The Dark Knight Rises To Dominate The Film Trailers Chart
The Dark Knight Rises releases today, dominating the competition with 8.9 million views on the Top 10 Online Film Trailers Chart. The film stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Gary Oldman and is set eight years after The Dark Knight. As we reported yesterday, the film has driven over 220 million cumulative views to date. There are over 2,600 placements for the film, with well over 5,000 clips coming from audiences, an indication of high audience participation.
For comparison, let’s see is how The Dark Knight Rises stacks up against its predecessor, The Dark Knight. When The Dark Knight released back on July 14, 2008 , it had scored 48+ million views, with no views coming from the movie studio. Meanwhile, The Campaign makes its chart debut this week, bringing in 290,000 views. The comedy follows two rival politicians (Will Ferrell & Zach Galifianakis) who are trying to win an election to represent their small North Carolina congressional district in the House of Representatives. Three weeks out from release, The Campaign has generated 80 clips across the web, 60 of which are copies and derivatives.
