Bill Moher's arguments are more cogent (and funny) than Coulter's vitriolic spew of opinion, so I'm not surprised by the gap. Her self-aggrandization and extreme platform appeals to a much smaller crowd. The debate in Boston last was interesting. I didn't think I could stand that much of her; but her lack of ability to substantiate her views simply made her seem pitiable and dismissable. Mohr ruled the house.
I suppose what you mean by vitriolic is that you didn't agree with the opinion she 'spewed'.

I find this an interesting pick because the both of them, regardless of their political disagreements, agree on MANY things. Bill Maher himself respects Ann and her views--you don't respect her because you dislike her views.
I wish people could separate their distaste for ideas with the person who believes in them.
In the cased of Ann Coulter, I dislike (have distaste as you put it) for her views because, yes I don't agree with her, and a dislike for her as a person, because of the way she presents her opinions. Actually, it is a matter of respect. I don't respect Ann Coulter because most of her arguments are backed by ad hominem and not logic. There are plenty of political figures I disagree with but can respect because their views are not based on insults and circular logic .
I agree that many of her books and columns have an ad hominem element...but I completely disagree that these elements are illogical. They might be rude, but they certainly are purposeful. She isn't randomly name-calling. You have to at least acknowledge her use of these attacks have substantive relevance. However, I will agree that she has said some downright RUDE stuff for a laugh...no doubt. I still appreciate what she contributes to political debate.
Aside from ad hominem, the bulk of her positions are based on solid research and reason--I wonder how much of Ann Coulter you read? Read her latest column on her blog

The ignorance in the last few posts scares me. You say Maher's arguments are flawed, and then ramble off by a bunch of empty, unrelated generalizations yourself. Similar to Ann Coulter, who is totally devoid of substance and relies on shock value to maintain what little popularity she has.
Maher can be funny but that does NOT excuse his Communist/Socialist/Extreme Liberal leanings.
What kids now adays DON"T GET is that growing up in the 50&60 became "harder and harder" and in 1963-1969 it was an EXPLOSION! The 1970's were worse. I was there and I know. Maher HATES President Bush, Conseratives, White Males, and Southerners (just to name a few)and has made ANTI-SEMETIC remarks as well.
Puppets, like Maher, will NEVER admit that we won the War in Iraq and achieved EVERY "benchmark" that was agreed to years ago. Do you think Maher will admit this fact? How about the fact that Muslim Extremists want to kill us all? How about the fact that MANY Muslim Extremists, who want to kill us all, LIVE in the United States. They you have ILLEGAL ALIENS who are now 1/3 of our prision population committing murder, drug trafficking, rape, robbery with weapons, credit fraud, identity fraud, etc.
Maher would NEVER stand up to DEMAND that ALL of the Illegal ALiens move back to their home in Mexico or whatever and reapply from there (and they stay our of American unless/until they get approved). We build the fence and put RAZOR WIRE at the top JUST LIKE WE DO IN AMERICAN PRISIONS. IT WORKS...PERIOD!Then you change the laws so that ANYONE entering/staying in America that is NOT a Citizen (visitors documented not a worry) is a MANDATORY FELONY OF 5 years in prison. E-Verify needs to be MANDATORY for every company. Every hiring manager must ensure that ALL EVerify documents are obtained/checked/verified/etc. and if there are ANY mistakes they fix it ASAP or the business gets fined and aftet that the owner(s) are subject to felonies.
Maher would NEVER have the SPINE to say ANYTHING negative about Muslim Extremists,Muslim Terrorists, or ILLEGAL ALIENS. WHY? He swore an oath, twice, to the Constitution and it is his JOB (which he gets very well paid for and will continue to do so the remainder of his life)to UPHOLD the Constitution and that means PROTECTING OUR BORDERS and ENFORCEMENT. Also, ONLY American Citizens get jobs, benefits, etc.
Any NON-AMERICANS who happen to have their child delivered in the United States is NOT an automatic American Citizen unless BOTH parents are Citizens.
Maher "attacks" those who Society has allowed to be attacked (without riots, burning cars, stoning, heads being cut off, protesting, media coverage, etc.)like Christians, Jewish People, White Males, Southerners. OH, how brave to attack those who don't "fight back".
Let "brave" Maher go to Iran and start "talking trash". His head would be cut off his body before he could "raise up an eyebrow" (as he always does to prove a point and get a cheap laugh}.
Ann Coulter, like Sarah Palin, are SELF MADE Women. They did not MARRY Rich/Powerful Men and they have had success through their OWN efforts. They both do a GREAT JOB and they would be a great example of REAL CHANGE and improvement in quality of live.
Lastly, Obama and his PUPPETS would never put into their Laws, written in the middle of the night that get voted on and NO ONE gets to read before voting - great leadership there Obama, ANYTHING that states: ALL BENEFITS ARE TO GO TO AMERICAN CITIZENS ONLY. ALL JOBS, BENEFITS, HOME MORTGAGE HELP, RESIDENCY HELP, PUBLIC SCHOOL FOR YOUR CHILDREN, FOOD STAMPS AND ALL OTHER LOCAL/STATE/FEDERAL BENEFITS. EVERYTHING GOES TO ONLY AMERICAN CITIZENS.

Seriously? When was the last time Bill Maher wrote a NYT bestseller, let LONE one he researched for himself? No, but he did film a 'documentary' to prop up his arrogant views of religion.
If you read what the liberals say about Ann, yeah--it is shocking--but try reading one of her books...she backs up her claims EVERY time. Bill Maher just sits in his comfy leather chair on his set of Real Time poking fun at real people, while his arrogant Hollywood peers/ audience cheer him on. That is not scholarly validation!
Ann Coulter was on Bill Maher's show not to long ago. She actually said "Poverty does not influence crime". That right there sums it up.... How is it possible for a college graduate like Coulter to not believe one of the most obvious sociological principles of the world?

In Africa there are MILLIONS of Africans SLAUGHTERED by other Africans. NO Whites are involved in this SLAUGHTER but you don't hear/see Liberals CRYING about that. WHY?
