Step Up Revolution Kicks Into High Gear at Release
Step Up Revolution prepares to release this week, coming in at number two on the Top 10 Film Trailers Chart. Set in sultry Miami, the dance-drama tells the story of a young aspiring dancer trying to make it in a new city. The fourth film in the Step Up franchise stars newcomers Kathryn McCormick, Ryan Guzman and Cleopatra Coleman, who do all of their own dancing throughout the picture. Across a total of 370 placements, 94% are accounted for by copies and derivatives. It generated 2.1 million views this week.
Compared to Step Up 3D, the third film in the series, Step Up Revolution is trailing in views at the same time in the release cycle. The third film generated 4.4 million views at the time of release, beating Step Up Revolution by more than 2 million views. Step Up 3D raked in 15.8 million opening weeknd. We'll have to wait to see if Step Up Revolution can live up to its predecessor.
Meanwhile, Cosmopolis slips into tenth place with 350,000 views. Based on the Don DeLillo novel by the same name, the film follows a young billionaire's odyssey as a wild cast of characters start to tear his world apart. Starring Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche and Sarah Gadon, the film drew mixed early critical reactions at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Three weeks out from release, Cosmopolis has collected a total of 400 placements, 380 of which are accounted for by copies and derivatives.
