Jessica Simpson Trumps iPhone 5 on Viral Chart

  
  
  

On this week's Ad Age Viral Video Chart, Intel and Toshiba's social film The Beauty Inside continues to drive huge viewership, topping this week with nearly 16 million views. Coming in second is Jessica Simpson's ad for Weight Watchers, beating out Apple's campaign for the iPhone 5. Samsung also gets in the mix with an ad at the expense of Apple fans. 

In the Weight Watchers' ad, Jessica Simpson stars as the new spokesperson, discussing her struggle to lose her post-baby weight. The ad features 30 seconds of Simpson speaking directly to the camera, from the neck up. The high viewership for the spot was likely fueled by the speculation around Simpson's supposed weight loss, especially after her guest appearance on Katie Couric's show last week. Jessica Simpson for Weight Watchers drives 4.5 million views this week.

Following Simpson's act is Introducing the iPhone 5, which generates over 4 million views this week. Last week, Apple unveiled the highly anticipated iPhone 5, and shortly afterwards, released a 5-minute long ad highlighting the different features of the iPhone 5. The had already has more than 70 copies, spoofs, and derivatives, a few days after the original ad was released.
