Presidential Video Ad Grabs Top New Spot on Viral Chart
On this week's Ad Age Viral Video Chart, a presidential ad by AFSCME, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, takes the highest new spot on the top ten this week. Meet the People Who Make America Happen features public works employees, including a trash collector in La Jolla, California, where Romney has a home. The campaign includes three creatives, all featuring different employees who worked in La Jolla. The spot collected 1.6 million views after releasing last week.
Social media giant Facebook also released its first-ever video ad, The Things That Connect Us. The ad was released after Facebook announced that it had reached one billion users. The spot created by Wieden + Kennedy uses a chair as a symbol of connection between users. The campaign generated 980,000 views, enough for eighth place.
Meanwhile, Samsung's Galaxy S III, which pokes fun at Apple and its fans, continues to dominate the chart, grabbing first place with 6.7 million views. Apple's Introducing iPhone 5 doesn't crack the list this week.

Ad Age's Viral Video Chart, powered by Visible Measures, focuses on brand-driven social video ad campaigns. Each campaign is measured by True Reach, an MRC accredited metric that includes views from brand-driven and audience-driven social video clips. The data are compiled using the patented Visible Measures platform, a constantly growing repository of analytic data on hundreds of millions of videos tracked across hundreds of online video destinations.
Note: This analysis does not include Visible Measures' paid-placement (e.g., overlays; pre-, mid-, and post-roll) performance data or video views on private sites. This chart does not include movie trailers, video game campaigns, TV show, or media network promotions. View counts are incremental by week.
