A Haunted House Battles Zero Dark Thirty at Release
On this week's Online Film Trailer Chart, the comedy-horror A Haunted House prepares to release this weekend while coming in fifth place with over 1.6 million views. The comedy pokes fun of the Paranormal Activity franchise as well as the found-footage horror genre. Starring Marlon Wayans and Cedric the Entertainer, promotional content for the film includes trailers and several clips. The overwhelming majority of the film's online viewership stems from audience-driven clips, a sign of high virality.
Competing with A Haunted House is the drama Zero Dark Thirty, which also releases this weekend. The action-packed film starring A-listers Jessica Chastain and Kyle Chandler was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, as well as in a number of other categories. The film chronicles Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 and its hunt for Osama Bin Laden. Zero Dark Thirty places at ninth place with 1.1 million views this week.
